Adaptive sports and recreation
Courage Kenny Rehabilitation Institute Adaptive Sports and Recreation offers a wide variety of recreational and competitive sports programs for youth and adults in the Twin Cities metropolitan area.
We partner with people of all ages and abilities to pursue their goals to live, work, learn and play by providing adaptive sports and recreation programs. These activities are adapted to enhance participants’ independence, improve self-confidence and encourage an active, healthy lifestyle. We also host a number of special events that provide unique opportunities to learn and experience adaptive sports and recreation. We offer individual and team sports for all skill levels and age groups.

What adaptive sports offer
Adaptive sports offer barrier-free opportunities for you to explore new skills or hone your competitive edge in a new sport or one you already enjoy. The advantages of sports and recreational activities are well-documented. See our outcomes for more information.
Note to veterans
If you are an injured veteran with a disability and are looking to stay active and rediscover sports and recreational activities, Courage Kenny Rehabilitation Institute Sports & Recreation is looking for you! How to get involved in adaptive sports
Participate
The health and safety of our participants, volunteers, interns and staff is our priority. Before deciding to return to play, it is important to consider your personal and family health circumstances. If in doubt, you are encouraged to participate virtually.

Volunteer
Volunteers of all skill levels and abilities partner with participants to build skills, meet goals, and have fun together! Share your love of sports and your skills by volunteering with us. Volunteer opportunities are available year-round in the Twin Cities. Learn more and get started as a volunteer or contact CKRI Volunteer Services at 612-775-2727.
Internships
Courage Kenny Sports & Recreation offers academic internships for various majors, including Sports Management, Recreation Management, and Therapeutic Recreation.
Support
Your support makes a difference! Through financial and equipment assistance, we strive to provide equitable opportunities for any child or adult who wishes to participate. Donations allow us to provide scholarships for participants, loans for our adaptive equipment, specialized volunteer training, and a variety of programs. Any dollar amount helps.
Scholarships and Adaptive Equipment Available
Financial limitations or barriers will not prevent participation in our programs. All necessary equipment is provided for participation in programs, and equipment loans are available. A Cost Share/Scholarship Application is available upon request.
