Courage Kenny Classic Wheelchair Basketball Tournament

Join us for the 40th Annual Courage Kenny Classic Wheelchair Basketball Tournament, presented by Coloplast on November 2-3, 2024 at Mounds View High School.

The Courage Kenny Classic Wheelchair basketball tournament hosted by Courage Kenny Rehabilitation Institute is one of the longest standing wheelchair basketball tournaments in the country. This event draws typically 15-20 of the best youth wheelchair basketball teams from around the country to compete for a spot at the National tournament. Complete with an adult division, this tournament is for all ages and offers competitive play for prep, varsity, and adults. This long-standing NWBA sanctioned tournament kicks off the 2024-2025 wheelchair basketball season and is made possible with support from donors, sponsors, and volunteers!

Who it is for

This tournament is a sanctioned event with the National Wheelchair Basketball Association. In order to compete, teams must be registered in the NWBA. This tournament is for all ages and offers competitive play for prep, varsity, and adults. If your team is interested in an exhibition game, please contact our Program Specialist at Romaus.Mesa@allina.com.

Volunteers are needed!
Opportunities range from running shot clock, scoreboard, or scorebook to selling t-shirts, helping with registration, and more.  There is something for everyone! Not all volunteer positions require knowledge of basketball to volunteer. This is also a great opportunity for groups and teams. Volunteers will receive a 40th Annual Courage Kenny Classic t-shirt and lunch (depending on their shift).

Good to know

About Wheelchair Basketball
Wheelchair basketball teams begin for children at six years old and continue through adulthood. All teams are co-ed. Players must have a disability that affects their lower extremities which can include, but is not limited to, amputation, spinal cord injury, spina bifida, cerebral palsy, and leg length discrepancy among other conditions. Players do not need to use a wheelchair full time in order to play wheelchair basketball. Many players are ambulatory and choose to play wheelchair sports. All players must meet minimum disability criteria and be classifiable under the sport classification rules, governed by the NWBA.
