Water Skiing, adaptive - Twin Cities

Courage Kenny Rehabilitation Institute’s Adaptive Sports and Recreation program offers adaptive waterskiing at a couple lakes around the Twin Cities Metro area. Waterskiing is a perfect sport for adaptive equipment that offers individuals with mobility, visual or other impairments the joys and benefits of watersports. Adaptive devices, including sit skis, accommodate various levels of ability. 

Locations:  

Medicine Lake in Plymouth - limited Friday clinics in June 
Lake Owasso in Shoreview - Wednesday evenings mid-July through mid-August

Who it is for

Beginner-level through competition-level adaptive water-skiers are welcome, ages 12 and up. We'll provide the instruction and adapted equipment for stand-up and sit-skiers. Join us for a boatload of fun! This class fills quickly. You must be pre-registered to participate.

This program is made possible with the support of a dedicated group of volunteers. 

Good to know

Weather Policy  
Lessons will be canceled due to rain or hazardous weather. Cancellation decisions are made each lesson day based on local weather reports and other factors. No refunds are available for missed lessons or weather cancellations.   

Get involved

To participate ​​​​

  1. Complete the CKRI Adaptive Waterskiing Interest form where you will be asked to pick your top 3 dates and location. (Opens May 1) 
  2. If you are new to Courage Kenny adaptive waterskiing, sign up for a 15 minute waterski assessment, with a program specialist.  
  3. Sign and return mandatory PARTICIPATION FORMS & WAIVERS.   
  4. After June 2, we will contact you with your summer waterski schedule. We do our best to schedule everyone at least once based on availability.

Share your skills and your love of sports with our programs by volunteering. We especially need skilled boat drivers (and their boats) at Lake Owasso.

Fee information

$20 per session

 No participant will be turned away due to financial hardships. Thanks to our generous donors, scholarships are available based on financial need. To apply, complete a Scholarship / Cost Share application prior to registering for a program. Please contact us if you have any questions.
