Rock Climbing, adaptive - Twin Cities

Climbing is a great way for people to stay physically active and healthy. This activity works the muscles in the body while raising the heart rate, which makes for a great workout. In these sessions, participants will learn climbing skills and technique, not to mention it is a wonderful way to socialize and make friends. Come be a part of a community of climbers.

What it is

Rock climbing is inherently a social activity that encourages like-minded people to come together and form a community sharing experiences, stories, success and challenges. Through rock climbing you can expect to:

  • improve health and fitness
  • become stronger
  • increase flexibility and balance
  • employ mental strategies of planning, anticipation and focus.

Who it is for

For youth and adults with disabilities, ages 6 and up in the Twin Cities Metro.

What to expect

Good technique is more important than physical strength when it comes to rock climbing, which makes this a great sport for many. You’ll climb at your own pace and at the level of difficulty that is right for you physically. Athletes will be paired up one on one with a trained volunteer instructor. With climbing you are your own competition - as you master techniques you can increase the difficulty of your climbing route.
