After a brain injury or stroke, some people describe changes in emotions and mood. These changes may affect your attention, concentration or memory. A neuropsychological consultation helps diagnose cognitive, behavioral or emotional difficulties related to a brain injury or disorder.
Benefits of neuropsychology
A consultation with one of our neuropsychology providers can help build a profile of your strengths, along with discover areas that may benefit from treatment. An assessment allows you and your provider to create a rehabilitation plan that includes strategies to help you return to your best daily living.
Neuropsychology helps tackle
- traumatic brain injury
- brain tumor
- neurodegenerative diseases and other conditions that can affect brain functioning.
What to expect from the consultation
At the consultation, your provider will typically interview you, review your medical records, and administer standardized tests to measure cognitive abilities such as memory, language and problem solving. Your consultation may also take into account mood, personality and any disabilities you may have.
A referral from your physician is required.
