This therapeutic program is for teens and young adults with cognitive challenges. A cognitive, behavior-based program, it acknowledges the unique needs of young people dealing with both traumatic brain injury and their developmental needs. It uses group therapy and activities to help teens and young adults address issues in their lives by building skills, including:
• Social and life skills
• Anger and stress-management skills
• Relationships skills (building relationships, establishing and honoring appropriate boundaries)
• Communication skills
• Setting appropriate personal goals
• Understanding brain injury and the developmental and social issues of this age group
In addition to group discussions, participants engage in peer socialization and expression through art, music and crafts.
