What to expect

Your first appointment is an initial consultation only. You will not be staying overnight in our sleep study center, nor would we do any kind of surgery or other treatment for a lung condition.

Bring your medical history form. We will spend about an hour going over this and talking to you about your symptoms. From this and possibly a few preliminary tests we will determine the need for additional diagnostic tests, or make a recommendation for a treatment program for your condition.

Make sure to bring the following with you to your appointment:

  • insurance card
  • photo ID
  • completed forms that were mailed to you or that you were instructed to bring. If you were self-referred (not referred by your doctor), please bring your medical records.

If your appointment will be at least one week after you set it, we will mail you a packet of information confirming the time, place and length of your appointment. This information includes more specific instructions on what to bring. Since this varies by patient, you will need to get that information from your confirmation letter or when you make your appointment with us on the phone.

To make the most of your visit, follow these tips:

  • Make a list of all your symptoms and/or concerns prior to your visit.
  • Know all of the medications you are currently taking, including dosage (this includes over-the-counter medications, vitamins and supplements).
  • Include information of medications that you have taken and if they worked for you or not. If they didn't work or if you had problems with them, be sure to tell your doctor.
  • Take a notepad and pen with you to write down any information that the doctor gives you.
  • Don't be afraid to ask questions. If you forget any questions during your visit, feel free to call our office and ask them.
  • Have the doctor explain your treatment options and medications. Ask about any side effects you may experience.
  • Bring a family member or a friend with you if you would like an extra set of eyes and ears.
