Andrew Stiehm, MD

I am a board-certified physician specializing in pulmonary and sleep medicine. I have professional interests in obstructive sleep apnea, narcolepsy, restless leg syndrome, insomnia, COPD and asthma. I offer face-to-face virtual visits for a variety of health services and conditions.

I am passionate about: being a father to my young children. They play sports like gymnastics, swimming, flag football and soccer. I coach when I can. I watch when I can. When they’re smiling, I smile. When they conquer a challenge, I’m proud.

If I wasn't a physician, I would be: a teacher. I taught 7-8th grade science before becoming a provider.

I became a physician because: it combines several of my passions – teaching, problem solving and a desire to help others. Seeing someone walk in your clinic with a feeling of hopelessness and watching them leave with a sense of hope – every time I see that, I’m reminded this is the career for me.

A challenge of this career that I enjoy is: helping patient with their CPAP. About 1/3 of patients struggle to use their CPAP, but, there are things we can do to make CPAP easier and there are alternatives to CPAP. When someone finally finds a comfortable way to treat their sleep apnea and starts feeling better, that’s so rewarding.  “It’s changed my life” is an expression I hear multiple times per week.

My personal health goal is: to be a healthy weight through diet and exercise.
