Why I became a physician: I love meeting new people, learning about their lives and finding creative ways to make them feel healthier and happier. Becoming a physician has allowed me to do all of these things. Every day when I go to work, I’m given the opportunity to balance my right and left brain, pushing myself to study the latest evidence but also reminding myself about the unique parts of humanity we simply cannot define in scientific literature. I can honestly say I am challenged every day, am never bored at work and leave each work day feeling grateful for my career, colleagues and health.
Fun fact about me: If I’m not at work, walking my dog Emma or trying a new restaurant with my husband, I’m probably at the Pilates studio. I did both modern dance and ballet when I was younger, and Pilates has allowed me to transition many of the principles of dance - proper form, body mechanics, controlled strength - into my current fitness regimen.
How I like to spend my free time: I love travel, music and food. If a friend or family member is living in or visiting a new place, I try to tag along. The more I travel, the more places I add to my bucket-list and the more connected I feel with our global community. I also like to road trip to see some of my favorite musical artists perform in cities that I’ve never been to before. And whenever I visit a new place, one of the first things on my to-do list is to ask a local for their best restaurant recommendations.
