If I wasn't a physician, I would be a: farmer. I grew up in a farm family and will always appreciate my childhood days with my parents and siblings.
I knew I wanted to become a physician: after shadowing at a variety of health care sites. I knew family medicine was right for me. I truly enjoy caring for all ages, conditions and people of all backgrounds.
Something I've learned from my patients is: that though we are similar people in so many ways, we are also unique. Our experiences, needs and stories are so different, and I enjoy sharing life with my patients.
One of the challenges of this career that I enjoy is: that every person and every situation is different. Finding the right way for each patient and working with them to achieve their health goals is challenging and rewarding.
The best thing I've done for my health is: to focus on wellness and try to prevent illness as much as possible.
I'm most proud of: the relationships that I've developed throughout my life; my wife, children, parents, siblings, friends, coworkers and patients.
A few of my personal achievements include: helping develop a geriatric/hospice program; being awarded family physician of the year in 2002; and running and finishing a half marathon.
