Practice philosophy: In order to provide comprehensive pediatric care it requires a team- family, providers, nurses, school network. In the end, it is all for the kids.
What are you passionate about and why? I am very passionate about adolescent medicine and the rising needs of the LGBTQ+ community. This population often gets overlooked but are at great risk of adverse health outcomes. Instilling a sense of self and ownership in adolescent's health care can have tremendous, positive health outcomes.
If you weren't a health care provider, what would you be? Most likely something working with kids/adolescents, such as teaching.
Why did you become a provider? When did you know this was the career for you? I knew at a young age I wanted to partner with patients to strive for a healthy life. It is a privilege to get to know people in this vulnerable setting & to see them through their toughest times.
What is something you have learned from your patients? Communication is key and if you are able to listen to your patients needs you will be able to identify how to create a partnership.
What is the best thing you've done for your health or the best health advice you've received? My grandfather always said "if you take care of your patients your patients will take care of you", I think of this every time I step into the office.
