Practice philosophy: My practice is very holistic, understanding that the entire family‘s wellbeing contributes to the health of the child. I love treating children because helping them form healthy habits can help them live long, healthy lives. I utilize my training in osteopathic manipulation and integrative medicine to augment care for a variety of pediatric health conditions, using it as a complement to traditional pediatric medicine. I also try to educate patients on the importance of the mind-body connection.
What are you passionate about and why? Self care! Whatever that entails for the individual. For me, it’s a lot of naps, yoga, and spending time in nature. You can’t pour from an empty glass. Caring for myself has made me a better doctor, sister, daughter, and friend.
If you weren't a health care provider, what would you be? Teacher
Why did you become a provider? When did you know this was the career for you? I definitely wanted a job that helped care for people. I loved learning about anatomy. My decision to pursue medicine was solidified by various shadowing experiences during college.
What is something you have learned from your patients? I have learned that it is important to be able to put yourself in their shoes, regardless of the situation.
What is one of the challenges of this career you enjoy? And why? I think it’s always challenging to get to the root cause of the issue. It’s like playing detective! Figuring out what to ask and what tests to order is my own version of Sherlock Holmes.
What is your personal health goal? Overcoming my own insecurities and continuing to work on self care.
What is the best thing you've done for your health or the best health advice you've received? As I’ve already touched on, learning to care for myself has been very important. Past doctors told me to try yoga, but I had to come to it in my own time (really embracing it over a decade later).
What are you most proud of? Completing my pediatric residency was the most challenging thing I’ve ever done, so probably that.
What are a few of your personal achievements? I’ve run a marathon! I’m really proud of the progress I’ve made with my yoga practice.
