What is your practice philosophy? I believe in tailoring my counseling to each person’s individual concerns and treating everyone with respect and honesty. I aspire to provide the best value for anyone that seeks my help.
Why did you become a provider? When did you know this was the career for you? Medicine is a cool field because it allows one to gain insights into the human condition like no other profession. I’ve known that this will be my career as early as high school.
Something I have learned from my patients is: Being humble to the depth and complexity of the human body and mind. Just when I thought I had something figured out, I come across someone who teaches me that there’s always a deeper dimension that I hadn’t contemplated before.
One of the challenges of this career that I enjoy is (and why): Helping patients face their insecurities about obesity. Obesity is a complex social and biological phenomenon that has been tinged with much prejudice and stigmata, yet the patients’ health can benefit from professional help if given the appropriate guidance. I believe in empowering patients by providing knowledge, empathy, and care. Ultimately, as a surgeon, I’m in a privileged position where I can help solve many health problems.
