Practice philosophy: I believe good vision is an integral part of good health. I spend as much time as it takes with each individual patient to ensure they achieve their maximum visual potential. I care for my patients as I would want myself or my family cared for.
What are you passionate about? I am passionate about providing high quality optometric care to help my patients see the best that they can.
If you weren't a health care provider, what would you be? A professional hockey player.
Why did you become a provider? I am interested in healthcare and helping people. In anatomy class I was fascinated by the intricate structure of the human eye. Later I shadowed an Optometrist and enjoyed the patient interactions.
What is something you have learned from your patients? My patients have taught me the importance of taking the time to listen to them and answer their questions in a professional, respectful manner.
What is one of the challenges of this career you enjoy? And why? One of the challenges I enjoy is providing care to a patient with a difficult problem. Seeing their happiness with improved vision is gratifying.
What is your personal health goal? Maintain a healthy work-life balance.
What is the best thing you've done for your health or the best health advice you've received? One of the best things I've done for my health is to exercise on a regular basis. Staying fit helps me to be more productive.
What are you most proud of? I am proud of the fact that I am a well-rounded person. Besides optometry, I have numerous interests which include playing hockey, golfing, hunting, fishing and traveling.
What are a few of your personal achievements? Graduating from Optometry school, playing on a collegiate club hockey all-star team, and volunteering and giving back to my community in ways that matter to me.
