Katie Hirsch, DNP, APRN
My specialties:
- Cancer (medical oncology)
- Family medicine
- Hematology
Professional interests:
- Oncology
- Benign and Malignant Hematology
- Sickle Cell Disease
- Palliative Care
- Pain Management
Practice philosophy: My practice philosophy is to advocate for all patients to ensure they receive the best care possible. I value listening to, educating, and validating patients while creating a trusting, long-term relationship.
Why did I become a provider: When I was very young, I told my parents I wanted to work in oncology. I dressed as a nurse for 5 Halloween's in a row! In college, I was drawn to the nursing career- focusing on holistic patient care- and knew I eventually wanted to become a Nurse Practitioner to be more involved in the decision-making portion of patient care.
If you weren't a health care provider, what would you be: An owner of a coffee shop, bookstore, or antique store.
what have you learned from your patients: Patience, trust, and empathy.
