I am a certified nurse practitioner specializing in family practice. I have professional interests in pediatrics, preventive care and women's health.
I became a provider because: health care is so important. Feeling healthy is vital to maintaining a high quality of living, and I’m passionate about helping people live their best lives. I have wanted to be a health care provider since I was 6 years old, but I didn’t decide to become a nurse practitioner until I was in nursing school. I realized how important nursing is to the field of medicine and couldn’t imagine taking any other path.
If I wasn't a provider, I would be a: music teacher. I play several instruments, including the piano and clarinet. I think it would be wonderful to help others develop a love of music.
Something I have learned from my patients is: that everyone has different expectations about their wellness. Taking time to listen to each person’s unique needs is important to keep my patients’ best interests in mind.
One of the challenges of this career that I enjoy is: working with patients to develop a health care plan that is unique to their individual needs and desires. I know that patients are more likely to enjoy good health if they are involved in the decision-making and when we work together to design a care plan that fits into their life.
My personal health goal is: to continue to keep exercise and healthy living as a habit and a priority in my life.
