We offer skills assessment, extended employment, job placement, vocational counseling and job retention services.

About vocational services

The goal of vocational services is to help you find a job that is suitable to your interests, strengths and abilities.

We offer the following services:

  • Post Secondary Navigation
    • Assists students in successfully navigating their college or post-high school training program.  This may include creating and tracking study plans, accessing program offerings (i.e. student services, clubs, accommodations…), class selection and more.  This service will support the student in self-advocacy, problem solving and decision-making skills.  Post secondary navigation may be virtual or in-person.
  • Vocational Evaluations
    • The length of service is typically six hours per day for 1-4 days. When requested, the service can be provided in half-day increments to accommodate an individual’s health issues.
  • Work Readiness
    • The length of service is four weeks for a minimum of 12 hours per week with the intent to increase the number hours per week throughout the program. 
  • Career Exploration or Pre-Placement
    • Designed for individuals to help with learning job seeking skills, developing a viable job goal and finding a path to success.  Activities are determined by the individual's goals and may include informational interviewing, college and training exploration and planning, and job market analysis. 
    • The length of service typically runs for two months, though timeframe is dependent on the client’s rate of completion of the required job search activities.
  • Placement
    • Assists individuals with job seeking skills, finding employment that is relevant to their interests, strengths and has a positive outlook in the labor market. 
    • May also provide short term supports after employment to aid in adjusting into their new role.
    • The Placement Program for a maximum of a year, based on a contract between the client, the State of Minnesota, and CKRI Vocational Rehabilitation Services. 
  • Extended Employment or Job Retention
    • Assists Minnesotans with disabilities keep their jobs and advance their careers.  Services may be virtual or in-person
    • Services are provided for an indefinite period, as long as the client meets with the service provider twice a month and submits copies of paystubs. 
  • Assistive Technology
    • Whether you are interested in computer access (hardware or software), a memory aide or other technology adaptation this service may be of help.
  • Driving Permit / Knowledge Study Assistance
    • Assists with individualized study support for people seeking to pass the Minnesota knowledge (permit) test.  Participants should have completed the 30-hours of classroom education and/or studied with their Transition program as this is meant to be study support not driver’s education. 
    • Services are provided in-person or virtual.
