Eneyew Tilahun, MD
My specialties:
- Family medicine
Practice philosophy: As an immigrant, I understand firsthand the challenges that come with navigating the healthcare system while balancing cultural, linguistic, and social differences. This perspective shapes my practice philosophy, as I am deeply committed to providing compassionate, patient-centered care that is culturally sensitive and inclusive. I focus on addressing patients' physical health while also considering the emotional and social factors that influence overall well-being.
What are you passionate about and why? I am passionate about providing equitable healthcare. Growing up in a resource-limited country, I witnessed barriers to care, driving my commitment to addressing disparities. I focus on preventive care and education to help all patients achieve healthier, fuller lives.
If you weren't a health care provider, what would you be? I’d likely continue my degree or pursue my interest in real estate.
Why did you become a provider? When did you know this was the career for you? After traveling to Ethiopia and witnessing severe healthcare disparities, I knew I wanted to be a provider at a young age.
What is something you have learned from your patients? My patients have taught me empathy and the importance of truly listening. Their experiences remind me that building trust and understanding is essential for providing personalized, effective care.
What is one of the challenges of this career you enjoy? And why? One challenge I enjoy is addressing diverse patient needs. It pushes me to think critically, adapt, and grow while building strong connections and making a meaningful impact in their lives.
What is your personal health goal? My health goal is staying active, eating well, and prioritizing balance for overall well-being.
What is the best thing you've done for your health or the best health advice you've received? Prioritize consistency: small, daily habits lead to lasting health.
What are you most proud of? I am proud to be the first medical doctor in my family to graduate in the United States. Overcoming challenges as an immigrant, I turned obstacles into motivation. This journey inspires me to provide compassionate care, address healthcare disparities, and serve as a role model for others.
What are a few of your personal achievements? Becoming the first doctor in my family in the U.S., setting a goal to open a clinic in Ethiopia, and becoming a father are my proudest achievements.
