Practice philosophy: My practice philosophy centers shared decision-making that supports families in making decisions that are right for them in true collaboration. I support physiologic birth practices and aim to help families achieve their goals in labor and birth. I practice family-centered care and aim to empower the whole person, and the whole family, through their care.
What are you passionate about and why? I am passionate about supporting and empowering families to make decisions that meet their personal goals. I aim to connect with families and understand how I can best serve folks through their care. I am passionate about the physical, emotional, and holistic wellbeing of all those I work with.
If you weren't a health care provider, what would you be? If I weren't a midwife I would be a dog trainer! Spending time with my dogs brings me so much joy!
Why did you become a provider? When did you know this was the career for you? I pursued midwifery after working in public health research. My research showed how impactful midwifery care is for families. My time as a labor and delivery nurse solidified my passion for birth.
What is something you have learned from your patients? I have learned through families that I serve value of listening intently, and taking the time to understand the perspectives and desires of folks I work with.
What is one of the challenges of this career you enjoy? And why? I love the unpredictability and variety that presents itself every single day as a midwife!
What is your personal health goal? My personal health goal is to spend at least an hour outside each day.
What is the best thing you've done for your health or the best health advice you've received? It is important to me to explore my passions. By engaging with family, getting outside, spending time with my dogs, and reading great books I support my physical and mental health outside the job!
What are a few of your personal achievements? I have achieved a Master in Public Health and my Doctorate in Nursing Practice, both of which help serve families with the midwifery philosophy of care.
