Practice philosophy: Meet the patient where they are. As a provider, I aspire to partner with my patients in establishing goals and shared decision making towards their health and well-being. As a team, we can identify your needs and determine what is most accessible and feasible in sustaining an improved quality of life. I believe building a trusting relationship leads to better health outcomes.
What are you passionate about and why? I am passionate about pulmonary medicine because I get to play a part in helping patients within a collaborative, interdisciplinary team in treating acute and chronic lung conditions that can often pose a great deal of distress in daily functioning.
If you weren't a health care provider, what would you be? Flight attendant. Travel while working, ensuring others are safe and feel cared for.
Why did you become a provider? When did you know this was the career for you? As a float RN for 8 years, I cared for patients throughout various phases of their acute illness. Becoming a provider broadens the scope I can help patients and impact them throughout their lifespan.
What is something you have learned from your patients? Listening is powerful and patients want to feel heard. You can learn a lot from patients by simply listening and may identify any concerns or barriers that impact their health.
What is one of the challenges of this career you enjoy? And why? Helping patients break health habits that are harmful. When gradual progress is made, it can be a gratifying moment in patients’ health journeys and contributes to better health outcomes.
What is your personal health goal? Prioritize my mental/emotional, physical, and spiritual health equally.
What is the best thing you've done for your health or the best health advice you've received? Accept the ongoing changes and know that certain health goals and outcomes will look differently than they did 5 or 10 years ago.
What are you most proud of? Being a first-generation graduate of a doctorate program and becoming an advanced practice registered nurse (APRN).
What are a few of your personal achievements? Completing my first half-marathon. Working throughout a pandemic and graduate school. Having my DNP project presented at the 2023 Sigma Theta Tau 'Creating Healthy Work Environments' event.
