Practice philosophy: I think of the care I provide as a partnership with my patients. I encourage them to be active participants in their medical care and I strive towards shared decision making. I would describe my practice philosophy as compassionate with an evidence based medicine backbone.
What are you passionate about and why? Working in the field of Oncology I know that life can often be too short and time limited. I am passionate about helping my patients to maximize both the quantity AND quality of their lives.
If you weren't a health care provider, what would you be? A Zoologist with the DNR. I believe in maintaining sustainable conditions for humans & wildlife.
Why did you become a provider? When did you know this was the career for you? For as long as I can remember I have always loved science and caring for others. Medicine is the best of both of those worlds!
What is something you have learned from your patients? They have taught me the value of listening and taking life one day at a time.
What is the best thing you've done for your health or the best health advice you've received? Getting 8 hours of sleep at night. Getting a dog has also been great for both my mental and physical health. My chocolate lab Chester is a constant source of snuggles and long walks!
