What is your practice philosophy? Partnering with my patients in their care to reach optimal outcomes.  

What are you passionate about? And why? Volunteering in my community and throughout the world.  I believe strong communities are essential to better health and well-being.  

If I wasn’t a provider, I would be a: Full time volunteer in my community! 

Why did you become a provider? When did you know this was the career for you? I practiced Family Medicine for over 15 years and loved it.  I decided to return to Fellowship to specialize in Addiction Medicine because during my career, I witnessed the devastating effects the disease of addiction had on individuals, their family and community.  I enjoy partner with patients in every stage of the recovery journey.   

Something I have learned from my patients is: That this world is an amazing place filled with people with talents, interests and ideas that are different than mine.  

One of the challenges of this career that I enjoy is (and why):  Talking with and partnering with patients living with Addiction.  Working together to overcome the stigma and barriers that make getting optimal treatment for addiction difficult.   

My personal health goal is: To take daily walks! 

What is the best thing you’ve done for your health or the best health advice you’ve received? Added a short session of morning meditation and gratitude to my daily routine.   

What are you most proud of? Deciding to make a mid-career change to follow my passion and specialize in Addiction Medicine. Starting the Celebration of Cultures at our local elementary school
