What is your practice philosophy? My practice philosophy is to meet women where they are at in order to develop a care plan that works best for them and their families. I am honored to be able to help by incorporating evidenced based education, complementary therapies, and personal preference in the decision-making process. I believe women can benefit from midwifery care from the start of their periods through menopause and all the incredible moments in-between.
What are you passionate about? And Why? I am passionate about educating and empowering women! Whether it be what kind of birth control would work best, how to start developing a birth plan, what complementary therapies might be beneficial, or a healthy recipe that might be good to try. Whatever it is, I love being able to help women make the best choices from them no matter how big or small.
If I wasn’t a provider, I would be a: A professional wilderness traveler! I love being outside and exploring new places in nature.
Why did you become a provider? When did you know this was the career for you? When I was pregnant with my first child and my plans for a waterbirth had to be reworked due to a breech baby, the CNM that sat with me before, during, and after my c-section had a huge impact on the care I received and how I remember my birth. I decided from then on that I wanted to be that person for other women. Luckily, I was already and RN at that time so I switched to labor and delivery to get some experience. That is what cemented my decision to continue my education and become a provider. It is, in my opinion, the most amazing and incredible career and I am so glad I was given the opportunity to make it mine!
Something I have learned from my patients is: Everyone is coming from a different place and there is always a way to relate to each other. One of my favorite things about being a provider is learning alongside and from the women that I work with.
My personal health goal is: To walk at least 10,000 steps each day.
What are you most proud of? My two children, Fern (6) and Flint (4), whom are full of love and life. I am proud that my husband and I have instilled in them a love for nature, kindness, and adventure thus far! As a family, we have set the goal to visit each of the 75 state parks in MN and complete each hiking club trail. We have over 40 done and are all excited to keep going, I am very proud of that!
