What is your practice philosophy? A personal practice goal of mine has always been to provide quality care and education to my patients in a safe space. I know how intimidating it can be to seek medical care, so I strive to provide my patients with the comfort of knowing we’re on the same team and working towards their treatment goals together.
If I wasn’t a provider, I would be a: If I wasn’t a provider, I would be a travel journalist. I love to travel and I really enjoy writing so this would be a way to do both hobbies at once!
Why did you become a provider? When did you know this was the career for you? I knew I wanted to work in healthcare since I was a child but ultimately decided on pursuing the PA route my freshman year of college. I wanted to work in a capacity that allowed me to provide quality care to my patients while being able to spend time getting to know them and building good relationships.
Something I have learned from my patients is: I have learned that patient-centered care is of the utmost importance. Every patient is unique in their background, presentation, needs and goals. It is important to me that I’m able to get to know my patients so we can work together to develop an optimal care plan that will set them up for success.
One of the challenges of this career that I enjoy is (and why): One challenge I love about this career is that medicine is always advancing, which means there is always something new to learn! I love that this career path will allow me to continue my learning and grant me the ability to teach as well.
My personal health goal is: I’m hoping to pick up a new winter activity this year, I’ve always wanted to learn how to snowboard!
What is the best thing you’ve done for your health or the best health advice you’ve received? I started rock climbing again after taking a break during school and it has been so fun! It’s physically and mentally challenging but so rewarding when you reach the top. It’s a fun way to exercise and the routes you take can be different every time, so there’s always something new to try.
