I am a board-certified adult and geriatric nurse practitioner specializing in pulmonology and sleep medicine. I have professional interests in obstructive pulmonary diseases, sleep disorders, and smoking cessation.

The best part of my work: Getting to know how disease or illness impacts my patients in all aspects of their life and helping them to reach their health goals. 

Why I became a nurse practitioner: I decided to specialize in pulmonology because I have seen the devastation that lung disease can cause in a patient’s life. I have worked as an RN in the hospital for 8 years. During this time, I worked with many patients who were critically ill and near the end of their life. I became a nurse practitioner because I wanted to work with patients in the clinic setting acting to prevent illness and hospitalizations, not just treat them after a crisis has occurred.   

What I tell friends and family: It is easier to prevent illness than to treat it. 

How I spend my free time: Running after my three year old daughter and spending quality time with my family.  

What my patients say about me: I am a good listener and can connect with them on a personal level. 

Favorite health tip: It's never too late to quit smoking. 

Practice philosophy: My practice philosophy is to work in a partnership with my patients to create an individualized care plan that is focused on treatment, prevention, and holistic care. I believe that everyone has a story that needs to be told and a voice that should be heard.
