Practice philosophy: I believe in forming relationships and engaging in shared decision making with my patients. Each patient is unique. Not only medically but socially as well. We all come from different backgrounds that impact our priorities and perspectives regarding our health. The same issues can, and often should, be managed differently for different patients. My goal is to find that "sweet spot" with each patient's treatment that is just right for them.
What are you passionate about and why? I am passionate about taking time to get to know my patients and building trust. I believe a primary care physician is in a unique position to positively impact a patient's life once that foundation of trust is built.
If you weren't a health care provider, what would you be? Environmental scientist or engineer
Why did you become a provider? When did you know this was the career for you? My father was a primary care provider. I always admired what he did and the impact he had on people's lives. By the time I was entering college I had a strong sense this was what I wanted to do.
What is something you have learned from your patients? Stay humble and open minded. Don't be afraid to think outside the box.
What is one of the challenges of this career you enjoy? And why? I love the art of medicine, which I see as the pursuit of applying the knowledge we have within the context of each patient's individual life circumstances.
What is your personal health goal? Maintain endurance, stay active
What is the best thing you've done for your health or the best health advice you've received? Stay active. Regular exercise offers not only physical, but psychological, cognitive and emotional benefits that are so important to sustaining quality of life.
What are you most proud of? Marrying my wonderful wife and raising our son together.
