Practice philosophy: I believe in providing compassionate, quality, and evidence-based healthcare to all individuals.

What are you passionate about and why? We are learning more and more that certain conditions that are either pre-existing or arise during pregnancy can have long term impacts on a birthing person’s health. I believe in optimizing medical conditions to prevent pregnancy complications as well as to improve future health outcomes.

If you weren't a health care provider, what would you be? I would be a veterinarian due to my immense love of animals.

What is something you have learned from your patients? Although I may not fully understand a patient’s circumstances, I try to place myself in their shoes and treat others how I would want to be treated. Empathy can make a world of difference.

What is one of the challenges of this career you enjoy? And why? One of the most unique aspects of our specialty is that we care for two (or sometimes more) patients at once. This balancing act, while challenging, is extremely rewarding and why I love our field.

What is your personal health goal? Continue to exercise at least three times per week before work.

What is the best thing you've done for your health or the best health advice you've received? I am a good cook and have made it a habit to prepare well-balanced, healthy dishes to enjoy at work and at home. In doing so in advance, I am less tempted to eat out.

What are you most proud of? I am most proud of the time that I served as a Peace Corps Volunteer and lived in Tanzania for 27 months. I taught biology and chemistry as a secondary school teacher in the village of Mtama.
