Practice philosophy: I believe in providing quality healthcare to all persons equally using shared and informed decision making to improve the quality of life.
What are you passionate about and why? I am passionate about people feeling heard when it comes to their physical and mental health. I would love for all of my patients to trust and believe that I will always do what is best for them and/or facilitate getting them to the place where they will receive the care they need.
If you weren't a health care provider, what would you be? A nutritionist, or perhaps something to do with our natural resources and national parks.
Why did you become a provider? When did you know this was the career for you? When I was young I wanted to be a veterinarian. As I grew older I loved the idea of providing continuity of health care across generations of the same family which led me to primary care.
What is something you have learned from your patients? I have learned that if you listen well enough and long enough, the answers will often present themselves. I have learned that vulnerability is the source of human connection.
What is one of the challenges of this career you enjoy? And why? The learning and training never ends in medicine. Science is always evolving, and we must always work towards learning in order to stay up to date.
What is your personal health goal? To accept the responsibility to do what is in my control to move and experience as long as I am able.
What is the best thing you've done for your health or the best health advice you've received? The effort to positively affect your health using tools within your control (nutrition, exercise, stress management) does not have to be all or nothing. Falling off the wagon is not permanent.
What are you most proud of? My children. Although young, they teach me about life each and every day and without a doubt have made me a better person.
What are a few of your personal achievements? Conquering fears, learning new skills. Becoming a physician and gaining the respect of my patients. Working during the COVID pandemic also taught me so much about myself. And most of all my family.
