What is your practice philosophy? I work to provide patient centered care and take the time to develop a relationship with each patient. It is important to start by identifying a patient’s individual goals and values. Together, we can determine the best treatment to improve function and reduce pain. I employ both nonoperative and operative treatment options and believe that a comprehensive multidisciplinary approach will result in the best outcomes.
If I wasn’t a provider, I would be a: I would try my hand at professional basketball, provided I could grow a foot or two.
Something I have learned from my patients is: Every patient has a unique set of goals, values and expectations which need to be understood in order to have the best possible outcome.
One of the challenges of this career that I enjoy is (and why): Mechanically, the foot and ankle are incredibly complex. They consist of numerous bones, muscles, tendons, and ligaments. These structures work in unison to allow us to walk, run, jump and be active. Because of this complexity, there is a wide variety of pathology. I enjoy listening to patients, performing a detailed physical exam, and utilizing state of the art imaging technology to diagnose these problems. It is a joy to help get patients back to their desired state of function.
My personal health goal is: To make healthy dinners at home on weekdays, eat together with my family, and to keep up with our new dog at the dog park (this is wishful thinking).
What is the best thing you’ve done for your health or the best health advice you’ve received? Whether it's running, basketball, or Nordic skiing…find something that you love. Staying fit becomes less of a chore if it is something that you look forward to each day.
What are you most proud of? I am very proud to have founded an international medical service trip while in college.
