What is your practice philosophy? Providing evidence based medical and preventative care that is equitable, patient centered and comprehensively addresses the unique physical, psychological and social needs of an individual.
If I wasn’t a provider, I would be a: A carpenter. I enjoy working with my hands to craft and build projects for myself and others that address our unique needs.
Why did you become a provider? When did you know this was the career for you? I finished medical school in 2019 and completed my Family Medicine Residency at Allina Health - United Family Residency in St Paul, MN. I always excelled in academics but I was introduced to medicine when my mother was diagnosed with breast cancer at the age of 14.
Something I have learned from my patients is: Every person has an untold story of struggles and accomplishments that provides the foundation for their goals, motivations, beliefs, and qualities. Patients want their medical providers to listen to them and spend the time getting to know their unique story to engage in shared decision making.
What are you most proud of? My life story consistent of of a continuous uphill battle containing a number of familial, emotional, physical, political and socioeconomic hardships that have shaped who I am today; a previously undocumented DACA student and teen parent that had a tenacious pursuit of the American Dream who became a primary care physician to serve the Twin Cities community.
