What is your practice philosophy? I believe in providing patient-centered, compassionate and holistic care to patients and families in achieving optimum health and wellness.  

What are you passionate about? And why? I am passionate about learning and growing as a psychiatric nurse practitioner.  

If I wasn’t a provider, I would be a: I would be an accountant if I wasn’t a provider since I have an accounting degree. 

Why did you become a provider? When did you know this was the career for you? I have worked as a psychiatric nurse for eight years, and wanted to challenge myself, enhance my learning and gain more autonomy when caring for patients which is why I decided to become a provider. During my nursing clinical rotation psychiatry appealed to me and that’s when I knew that I wanted to grow in this field.  

Something I have learned from my patients is: I have learned to accept, adapt and be resilient from my patients. Patients don’t often receive the best news when at the hospital, but they learn to adapt, grow, and move on from that experience.  

One of the challenges of this career that I enjoy is (and why): Addiction medicine is what I find interesting and yet challenging.  

My personal health goal is: My personal health goal this year is to engage more in outdoor activities.  

What is the best thing you’ve done for your health or the best health advice you’ve received? One best thing I have learned and done for myself is not to take work home and be truly present for my family when I am at home. In doing so I am more efficient at work and this has avoided burnout for me.
