What is your practice philosophy? True encouragement in the counseling relationship, an individualized vision for the future, and wise application of psychological principles lay the foundation for healing and growth. My approach is therefore integrative of several therapies including cognitive behavioral, interpersonal, and others.
What are you passionate about? And why? I am passionate about understanding the art of living well.
If I wasn’t a provider, I would be a: Stone Mason because I love working hard and being outdoors.
Why did you become a provider? When did you know this was the career for you? I became a psychologist so that I could help others recover from painful experiences and persist in meaningful living despite these experiences.
Something I have learned from my patients is: I have learned from my clients that people experience more mental and emotional pain than is visible to those around them, and despite this pain, they are unbelievably resilient.
One of the challenges of this career that I enjoy is (and why): The problems clients present with are varied and often complex, and each client experiences life differently. I find it both challenging and rewarding to hone in on the specific nature of what a client is facing and to individualize treatment to the client’s needs.
What is the best thing you’ve done for your health or the best health advice you’ve received? Regular intense exercise.
What are you most proud of? I am most proud of my marriage and our three children.
