What is your practice philosophy? Every person contains the potential for change but may need help acquiring the tools or support required to make these changes.
If I wasn’t a provider, I would be a: If I weren’t a psychiatrist, I like to think that I would have pursued a career in writing, particularly narrative fiction or comedy. I enjoy the idea of using writing as a tool for reflection and self-discovery, but one that allows other people to discover truths about themselves or the world.
Why did you become a provider? When did you know this was the career for you? I knew in high school that I wanted to have a career in psychology or mental health, I decided my freshman year of college that I wanted to pursue psychiatry.
My personal health goal is: I’d like to get back into a regular habit of running and eventually complete a full marathon, having completed one half marathon previously.
What is the best thing you’ve done for your health or the best health advice you’ve received? I once received advice that having boundaries are not only important, but our personal responsibility. I am still working on taking more time for myself and feeling comfortable saying “no,” but it’s a very important practice to master. The world asks a lot of us all, and if we don’t set boundaries we’ll have little left for ourselves.
