What is your practice philosophy? My goal is to provide individualized, interdisciplinary management of patients with breast cancer to achieve the best possible outcomes for my patients. A breast cancer diagnosis can be very overwhelming and my goal is to guide patients through the decision making process by providing the education and most up to date advise available to them.

What are you passionate about? I am passionate about women getting the best treatment they can for their breast cancer. I think that this is best delivered by a specialized group of physicians working side by side to coordinate and deliver personalized care for a patient.  Many people do not realize that each patient may have a surgeon, plastic surgeon, medical oncologist, radiologist, pathologist, and radiation oncologist as part of their care and it is vital that that group works well together. Treatment options for breast cancer are evolving daily and can feel like a complex maze. I am passionate about spending the extra time to educate my patients.

Why did you become a provider? When did you know this was the career for you? I knew early on that medicine would allow me to combine my love of science with taking care of people. When I was an internal medicine resident I was lucky to have incredible mentors during my months in medical oncology and saw how a great medical oncologist could really impact his or her patients care. I chose breast cancer because as a women with a career and family I was able to personally relate to a lot of the challenges facing my patients as they received care for their cancer.
