I am board-certified nurse practitioner specializing in adult and geriatric medicine, and internal medicine. I have professional interests in diabetes, preventive health and hypertension. I offer face-to-face virtual visits for a variety of health services and conditions.
Hometown: Maple Grove, MN
Practice philosophy: I believe in partnering with my patients to prevent illness and promote wellness. I want to help each patient find a plan for their health that is unique to them. I believe that less is more, and I try to avoid interventions and medications unless necessary.
What are you passionate about and why? I am passionate about how food, our environment and our mind impact our health. Our bodies are so complex, and we have to focus on all of the factors that both help and harm our health. In primary care I enjoy building relationships with my patients over the years. Sharing part of their story is such an honor. I like to help my patients learn how they can take charge of their health.
If you weren't a health care provider, what would you be? A midwife, I love all things birth and babies!
Why did you become a provider? I am a third-generation nurse and second-generation nurse practitioner. I became a nurse practitioner because I enjoy helping people and love being part of their journeys to become healthier and walk through illness.
What is something you have learned from your patients? Your mindset matters, some people have beat the odds and a lot of that is due to their mindset.
What is one of the challenges of this career you enjoy? I enjoy the variety in my job, there is always something new to learn and see.
What is your personal health goal? I want to continue to manage stress in my life and balance work and home.
What is the best thing you've done for your health or the best health advice you've received? The words you tell yourself matter. Focusing on how we talk to ourselves and the beliefs about ourselves can really impact our health.
What are you most proud of? Being a mother to my three boys.
What are a few of your personal achievements? I am a mother to three sweet boys. I like to bake and especially enjoy sourdough bread baking. I like to make jams and jellies from our rhubarb and red currant bushes.
