I believe that getting a cancer diagnosis is like being thrown on a roller coaster without a seatbelt. My role is to be the seatbelt....to keep my patients in the car, on the tracks and moving forward. In addition, my role is to support, resource and advocate for patients during their cancer journey, drawing on resources for the whole person and addressing emotional and physical health in addition to their specific cancer diagnosis. I provide an integral part of the communication between the interdisciplinary team members advocating for the patient to keep their care moving forward.
I am the co-facilitator of the monthly pancreas cancer support group which is open ALL pancreas cancer patients and their families/friends within the community.
Winner of the 2018 Vince Lombardi Cancer Foundation Leaders for a Cure Award in the Nurse category. Winner of the Mpls/St. Paul Magazine Outstanding Cancer Care Nurse award in 2018.
