Practice philosophy: My goal is to educate patients on their options and treatment choices. This involves the translation of complex medical information to enable informed decision making.
What are you passionate about and why? I am passionate about embracing emerging technologies and treatment techniques. The use of computer-aided designs to create custom implants and guides has become integral to the treatment of complex shoulder arthritis. This has increased the reliability and provided better results.
If you weren't a health care provider, what would you be? I would probably be a real estate developer.
Why did you become a provider? When did you know this was the career for you? My father was a pediatric cardiologist and pediatric intensivist so I had the opportunity to see patient care from a young age. During college I became focused on pursuing a career in health care.
What is something you have learned from your patients? The personal effort and attitudes of patients can be as important as the quality of care that is provided to them. The education and involvement of people in their care is critical to success.
What is one of the challenges of this career you enjoy? And why? The challenge is to continue to learn and improve continually. There is a large amount of information on new techniques and technology. The goal is to determine what is of true benefit to patients.
What is your personal health goal? The goal of every person I know is to live their best life.
What is the best thing you've done for your health or the best health advice you've received? The practice of medicine can be all consuming and the best advice I received is to make time and focus on family and the important people in my life.
