Practice philosophy: In every patient, there is a human who deserves to be treated with empathy and dignity.
What are you passionate about and why? Advocating for the needs of patients and families that I am privileged to care for has been a life long passion. Sometimes providers meet people at their lowest point and at that moment, the best gift I can offer is compassion, availability, and willingness to meet patient needs.
If you weren't a health care provider, what would you be? A teacher - teaching was my first love.
Why did you become a provider? When did you know this was the career for you? I was a secondary school teacher and taught mathematics and physics until I relocated to the United States where I studied nursing. Working with doctors guided me in the decision to become a physician.
What is something you have learned from your patients? Humility and patience - always listen to the patient and you will have all the answers you need to help them.
What is one of the challenges of this career you enjoy? And why? The unknown and variety of cases of every day as a family physician at first was scary but it became my motivation to stay up to date and open my mind to learning from every patient encounter.
What is your personal health goal? Keep laughing every day, not take anything personal, and return home with full attention to family.
What is the best thing you've done for your health or the best health advice you've received? Team bonding with colleagues goes a long way to reduce burnout. This advice has been pivotal in how I choose my place of work and its been very helpful.
What are you most proud of? Spending time teaching medical students and residents to shape the future of tomorrow's healthcare.
What are a few of your personal achievements? 2021 Resident Teacher Award recipient. Recognized as an outstanding clinic preceptor for first year medical students as adjunct professor at Medical College of Wisconsin-Wausau Campus.
