Practice philosophy: I see my role as threefold - to provide the full spectrum of options for treatment in the form of medications, supplements, devices, and procedures, to help interpret the landscape of scientific data and knowledge, and to provide support and advocacy to and on behalf of my patients in the way that allows them to live their lives most fully and according to their own values and priorities.
What are you passionate about and why? I am passionate about partnering with my patients to identify, treat, and, when necessary, accommodate and adapt to their illness. I have seen the disabling effects of neurologic illness and the resilience of my patients and am committed to providing them the guidance and support they deserve.
If you weren't a health care provider, what would you be? BBQ Pitmaster.
Why did you become a provider? When did you know this was the career for you? My curiosity/scientific interest in medicine came first (since high school), but these days I am fueled by both curiosity and passion for patient care and healing.
What is something you have learned from your patients? I have been in awe of my patients' capacity to face incredible challenges and suffering and find ways to not only persist but thrive.
What is one of the challenges of this career you enjoy? And why? I enjoy having my knowledge of the nervous system and of disease expanded every day by my patients' account of their symptoms and how they adapt.
What is your personal health goal? Increase moments of feeling still and at peace.
What are you most proud of? When I have received messages from patients thanking me for listening and being supportive, that has meant a lot to me.
