Practice philosophy: I believe that therapy should be collaborative and dynamic in nature because each person brings individual strengths into the therapy relationship. My work tends to be influenced by Family Systems and Attachment Theories. I tend to incorporate Dialectical Behavior Therapy, play-based interventions, and Family Systems interventions into my sessions to assist clients with using their strengths to address their areas of difficulty.
What are you passionate about and why? I enjoy working with children, adolescents, and their families to assist them with using their inherent strengths to find creative solutions for empowering them to use their strengths and to learn skills to address their areas of difficulty.
If you weren't a health care provider, what would you be? Anthropologist because I love learning about different cultures.
Why did you become a provider? When did you know this was the career for you? I began working in mental health in high school, which developed into a lifelong passion of working with children, adolescents, and their families.
What is something you have learned from your patients? My patients have taught me the power of humor and the importance of feeling seen and heard. They have also taught me the importance of finding creative ways to teach skills and explore feelings.
What is one of the challenges of this career you enjoy? And why? I enjoy working with children, adolescents, and their families to gain deeper perspectives of themselves and each other in order to assist with increasing coping and communication.
What is your personal health goal? To continue to find ways to be active in nature.
What is the best thing you've done for your health or the best health advice you've received? The best health advice that I have ever received was to find ways to incorporate mindfulness into my daily routines, so that I can be more present, engaged, and intentional in my daily life.
