What are you passionate about and why? I am passionate about patient-centered care, preventative health, and improving access to services like sexual health and infectious disease management. My drive comes from empowering patients with knowledge and support to achieve their health goals and fostering wellness in my community.
If you weren't a health care provider, what would you be? If I wasn’t a healthcare provider, I’d be a pilot, exploring the skies and embracing adventure daily.
Why did you become a provider? When did you know this was the career for you? I became an NP to build meaningful relationships with patients and empower them through care and education. My passion for healthcare started in childhood, observing my family's health struggles.
What is something you have learned from your patients? I've learned resilience from my patients—how they navigate challenges with strength and perseverance. The ability to overcome adversity inspires me to approach each day with empathy and determination.
What is one of the challenges of this career you enjoy? And why? One challenge I enjoy is adapting to each patient's unique needs. This keeps me engaged and constantly learning, pushing me to find creative solutions to improve their care and outcomes.
What is your personal health goal? My personal health goal is to maintain balance through regular exercise, mindfulness, and rest.
What is the best thing you've done for your health or the best health advice you've received? The best thing I've done for my health is prioritizing regular exercise. It boosts my physical and mental well-being, helping me manage stress, stay energized, and maintain a positive outlook on life.
What are you most proud of? I’m most proud of completing my DNP and becoming an APRN, which allowed me to impact patients directly. I’m also proud of the relationships I’ve built in my career and the support of my family, who have been my inspiration and strength throughout this journey.
What are a few of your personal achievements? My achievements include working on my doctoral project, which assisted a community clinic in Duluth, and my 13-year nursing career while balancing family life with my husband and our kids.
