Practice philosophy: I believe in meeting a patient’s individual needs through comprehensive evaluation and treatment. I combine leading edge techniques with proven techniques. I work to develop a partnership with my patients. I make sure patients understand their own unique problem, their treatment choices, and the recovery process. I explain how various treatments can improve or repair the problem. When we consider treatment options, I present an up-front and realistic outlook on the results we can achieve.
What are you passionate about and why? I strive to get patients the best outcomes possible given their individual circumstances. I feel it is important to treat people how you would want to be treated, going above and beyond when necessary.
If you weren't a health care provider, what would you be? Inventor/engineer
Why did you become a provider? When did you know this was the career for you? I have always been interested in science and love working with people. Medicine allows me to do both and make a difference in people's lives.
What is something you have learned from your patients? If you take time to listen, people will tell you what they need.
What is one of the challenges of this career you enjoy? And why? Hand surgery is very precise and requires finesse, dexterity and attention to detail. I find this challenge rewarding, especially when I help someone regain use they had lost or relieve their pain.
What is your personal health goal? To continue to be active and healthy
What is the best thing you've done for your health or the best health advice you've received? Participate in recreational sports. They are both mentally and physically rewarding and allow time to socialize with old friends and make new ones.
What are you most proud of? My three kids as the grow and mature into great young adults.
What are a few of your personal achievements? I have started several successful small businesses. I volunteer at HERO (Health Equipment Recycling Organization, in Fargo) and have several inventions in various stages of development.
