Practice philosophy: I consider it an honor to provide care in family medicine to all ages.
If you weren't a health care provider, what would you be? Saxophone player.
Why did you become a provider? When did you know this was the career for you? I was in kindergarten when I first thought about being a nurse. As an undergraduate, I became interested in being a nurse practitioner after listening to a talk a nurse practitioner gave.
What is something you have learned from your patients? I have learned to listen more and talk less.
What is one of the challenges of this career you enjoy? And why? Sometimes the challenge is building rapport and trust. Family Medicine is special in that we have the opportunity to get to know the whole family and establish this important relationship.
What is the best thing you've done for your health or the best health advice you've received? The most important thing for me has been to be knowledgeable about my health and to be an advocate for myself. I encourage all patients in this way also.
What are you most proud of? My family.
