Practice philosophy: My practice philosophy is on the emphasis of collaborative care teams involved in patient care. The care team includes all specialties that can work together to streamline communication and ultimately achieve optimal outcomes for individual patients. I have worked in several different organizations integrating Chiropractic and Acupuncture with traditional medicine. Integration not only yields high patient satisfaction, it significantly reduces medical over utilization.
What are you passionate about and why? I am passionate about finding one thing every day that makes me grateful about any aspect of my life. If you find something that makes you grateful, you focus more on that and less on what is 'wrong' with you, your life and others. I believe it creates a 'glass half full' mentality.
If you weren't a health care provider, what would you be? I would like to make the perfect cup of coffee for people tailored to their preferences.
Why did you become a provider? When did you know this was the career for you? I have always been fascinated with the human body and how we function. I had a strong calling to be a part of a healing team, providing a piece of what could make a life more joyful and engaging.
What is something you have learned from your patients? People come in so many different packages. I have learned to walk into a treatment room without expectation-truth is not what you 'see'. All I bring into a treatment room is kindness and compassion.
What is one of the challenges of this career you enjoy? And why? Handling difficult or combative patients. Although challenging, I enjoy working through their grievances to achieve satisfaction. Frustration has a root cause. Once exposed, we can go forward.
What is your personal health goal? To always be moving and perform some sort of physical daily activity.
What is the best thing you've done for your health or the best health advice you've received? Eating all organic food and adding natural supplements in my daily diet. I embody 'Health is Wealth' by 'investing' in my 'bank of health' where my 'payoff' is optimal quality of life!
What are you most proud of? I am most proud of my success as a provider and also as a mother. I feel my experiences with my family has made me a much better provider over the years.
What are a few of your personal achievements? Running 10 half marathons, Skating on a national skating team in Canada and traveling to Europe to compete. Working for 'fish and wildlife' in the Gaspe peninsula, Quebec on a salmon migration study.
