Practice Philosophy: I enjoy being in Family Practice because it provides me the opportunity to build lifelong relationships with patients. I have a particular interest in Women's Health, Pediatric/Adolescent Care, and a variety of procedures. I like to think I am comfortable to interact with. I don't take myself too seriously and I am able to relate to a variety of patients on a personal and professional level.
What are you passionate about and why? I am honored to have the opportunity to educate on illness prevention and use my training to aid in diagnosis & treatment plans. I chose Family Medicine because I enjoy seeing patients from all walks of life & building trusting relationships.
Why did you become a provider? When did you know this was the career for you? I knew from an early age that I wanted to be a doctor. Medicine has always intrigued me and I truly had no other career interests, even dating back to middle school days.
What is something you have learned from your patients? Carefully listening to what the patient is saying goes a long way in their diagnosis, treatment plans and overall care.
What is one of the challenges of this career you enjoy? And why? I think a challenge as a physician is being expected to know the answers to a wide variety of issues that affect one's health. I enjoy problem solving and will work diligently to ensure I am caring for patients to the best of my ability. .
What is the best thing you've done for your health or the best health advice you've received? I try to maintain an active lifestyle which includes spending time with family, traveling, mountain/road/fat tire biking, hiking, good food with great friends.
What are you most proud of? Having the ability to balance being a wife, mother and physician. My husband, Lance Deeter, Family Medicine Physician at NUMC, and our children are my top priorities but I also enjoy building positive relationships at work too!
