What is your practice philosophy? I believe that as a family medicine physician caring for a patient means understanding each individual as a whole person and getting to know their unique story. I believe through knowing patients’ life experiences I am able to provide the best continuity of care through all stages of life including pregnancy and obstetrical delivery, childhood and adolescence, adulthood and through the aging process.
What are you passionate about? And why? Building compassionate and trusting relationships with my patients and actively listening to best understand their health goals and concerns.
If I wasn’t a provider, I would be a: Psychologist or counselor - I would love to be in a role where I get to use my expertise to help people work through difficult emotional situations and understand their life and family.
Why did you become a provider? When did you know this was the career for you? Growing up in a small town in rural Minnesota, I saw what a significant impact family medicine physicians made in the community and what an important role they played in the health of my hometown. From the time I was a senior in high school I knew I wanted to combine my interest in human biology and life-long learning to make connections with people and serve a community.
One of the challenges of this career that I enjoy is (and why): I enjoy the challenge of medicine because it is always evolving and there is always more to learn! I then have the important role of using what I learn to empower my patients and advocate on their behalf.
What is the best thing you’ve done for your health or the best health advice you’ve received? I try to prioritize some type of movement everyday whether that be running, biking or even a 10 minute walk. It has made such an impact on both my physical and mental health.
What are a few of your personal achievements? Completing my first marathon in 2021 Mastering my mom’s chocolate chip cookie recipe Traveling internationally by myself.

Dr Maja Johnson
Dr Johnson took the time to speak to me as a person, not just as someone from whom she was collecting information. She is intelligent and thoughtful in her responses. I felt entirely comfortable with her examination and recommendations.
My provider was amazing and very understanding and treated me like a person not a number, and was very helpful with all questions.
