What is your practice philosophy? I always knew from a young age that I wanted to help people and I believe that everyone has the ability to find a balance in their life for health and wellness while also enjoying all the fun things life has to offer. I became an NP to be there for my patients in their time of need and help to improve their quality of life.
What are you passionate about? And why? I am passionate about health and wellness because I have had to work hard for my health after losing over 50 pounds and getting my mental health in a good place.
If I wasn’t a provider, I would be a: Kindergarten Teacher because a child’s smiles and laughter are truly magical!
Why did you become a provider? When did you know this was the career for you? I knew from a young age that I wanted to help people in some way. In high school I took a medical careers class and knew I was fit for a job in the medical field. I became a provider to be able to have a positive impact on people’s lives.
Something I have learned from my patients is: I have learned from patients that taking a few extra minutes to listen and show them compassion and respect goes a long way.
One of the challenges of this career that I enjoy is (and why): I enjoy the constant change that research provides to give the patients the best outcome possible. I enjoy learning new things and working to keep up to date on that information and the ever changing medical field.
My personal health goal is: Continue to sign up and complete races with my husband and incorporate whole foods in my diet daily.
What is the best thing you’ve done for your health or the best health advice you’ve received? The best thing I have done for my health is just be consistent with having a colorful plate and eat sweets in moderation while having an exercise goal in place. Accountability groups are also a great way to be motivated to continue a healthy lifestyle.
What are you most proud of? I am most proud of raising 2 beautiful children, my marriage to my husband, and the completion of my Masters degree.
What are a few of your personal achievements? Completing 10 half marathons and several other 5k’s. Also, completing a bike, kayak, and run race and finishing in first place in my age group.
