What is your practice philosophy? In addition to giving compassionate and exceptional care, my philosophy is to build strong relationships with my patients through listening, doing a thorough exam and educating the patient. In doing so it is easier for patients to communicate their concerns to me and I can develop trusting patient/provider relationships in my practice.
What are you passionate about? And why? I am passionate about strong physical and mental health. It is important to take care of ourselves as this allows us to live a happier healthier life and create better relationships with those around us.
If I wasn’t a provider, I would be a: Personal fitness/health instructor because I feel it is an important part of our lives and how we feel about ourselves.
Why did you become a provider? When did you know this was the career for you? As long as I can remember I wanted to work in the medical field. This was solidified when I was in college and volunteering at the hospital and care facilities and felt a great sense of satisfaction in caring for others.
Something I have learned from my patients is: I have learned from my patients that my interactions with them makes a difference in their lives. Patients remember personal interactions and nice gestures. In addition, I have learned that patients are resilient and can be inspiring in the way they handle their diseases.
One of the challenges of this career that I enjoy is (and why): Medicine is always changing and there is always something new to learn. When walking through the door to the patient you never really know what you are going to find. This makes it challenging yet personally fulfilling.
My personal health goal is: Exercise regularly, eat a healthy diet and get 7 hours of sleep nightly.
What is the best thing you’ve done for your health or the best health advice you’ve received? The best thing I have done throughout my lifetime for my health is to commit to regular exercise. Regular exercise keeps the body strong and helps manage stress in my life.
What are you most proud of? My two children and the type of adults they have become.
What are a few of your personal achievements? In PA school I was awarded “PA Graduate with Distinction”– PA Class of 1999. I also traveled to Europe alone for 6 weeks after graduation from college.
