Practice philosophy: Our specialty deals with life-threatening conditions affecting the blood vessels of the brain and spine. We fully invest ourselves not only in achieving the best procedural outcomes possible through cutting-edge technology and the experience earned from a large case volume over many years, but also establishing a comprehensive, multidisciplinary management and longitudinal follow-up plan, along with thorough communication with patients and their families in their time of greatest need.
What are you passionate about and why? Neurointerventional Surgery is one of the most exciting fields in medicine. New technology and applications surface on a seemingly daily basis, allowing us to treat more patients with increasingly effective devices and techniques. I am extremely passionate about our field.
If you weren't a health care provider, what would you be? I am honestly not sure. I love being a doctor and cannot imagine doing anything else.
Why did you become a provider? When did you know this was the career for you? I was not only interested in becoming a physician early on out of a desire to care for patients, but specifically found imaging-guided procedures intriguing.
What is something you have learned from your patients? Be courageous. We take care of many critically ill patients. Patients and their families are truly an inspiration in the courage and resilience that they display under extremely trying circumstances.
What is one of the challenges of this career you enjoy? And why? You can always be better. Being introspective, self-critical and current keeps us providing the highest quality of care as the field continues to rapidly evolve.
What is your personal health goal? While it is not easy to have work-life balance in this profession, my health goal has always been to maintain fitness as a priority. It is an important release, as well as improves physical endurance as a physician.
What is the best thing you've done for your health or the best health advice you've received? Stay young and challenge yourself. We have treated patients in their 80s and 90s that run
marathons. It is hard to find greater inspiration than that.
What are you most proud of? Professionally, the opportunity to be a part of this magnificent field
and having trained and worked with some of the best physicians in the country at what we do.
Personally, my wife and kids, who inspire me on a daily basis with their energy and support.
What are a few of your personal achievements?
