Practice philosophy: My practice philosophy is to treat every patient with the same dedication that I would a family member. Patient education and building a longitudinal doctor-patient relationship are of paramount importance. Being accessible and taking ample time to explain disease processes and the various treatment options ensures that patients feel informed, empowered, and confident in their decision-making.
What are you passionate about and why? I am passionate about Neurointerventional Surgery as the fastest-growing and most technologically advanced field in all of medicine. I feel incredibly privileged every day to be able to guide patients through their care experience from the clinic through procedures and long-term follow-up.
If you weren't a health care provider, what would you be? Healthcare administrator or master brewer.
Why did you become a provider? When did you know this was the career for you? I became a physician to make a difference. I was fortunate to be able to observe several complex surgical procedures in high school and was completely amazed. I have not looked back since.
What is something you have learned from your patients? The patients that we treat in this field, as well as their families, are extremely courageous in the face of very serious illnesses. This courage continues to inspire me in my daily work.
What is one of the challenges of this career you enjoy? And why? I feel very driven to do high-level work and this field demands a total commitment to excellence, technical skill, and staying up-to-date with all of the most recent medical literature and devices.
What is your personal health goal? To try my best to keep up with my teenage sons' athletic activities and outdoors adventures.
What is the best thing you've done for your health or the best health advice you've received? I try to maintain a healthy diet and adhere to a routine exercise regimen. Thankfully, my wife is an amazing cook which makes being healthy a whole lot easier!
What are you most proud of? Personally, my family. My wife is a physician and the best possible life partner I could have ever asked for. My older son is very passionate about becoming a pilot and my younger son is an avid hockey player. Professionally, working with such an accomplished team at an exceptional institution.
What are a few of your personal achievements? I am very fortunate to have trained with some of the world leaders in our field and have been recognized by Minnesota Monthly and Minneapolis-St. Paul magazine during my time at Midwest Radiology.
