Adam Johannsen, MD
My specialties:
- Orthopedic surgery
- Sports medicine
Professional interests:
- Hip impingement
- Meniscus tears
- Rotator cuff tears
- Shoulder arthritis
- Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) tears
Practice philosophy: My goal is to take a patient-first approach to understand the patient’s concerns and goals for treatment. I will discuss my findings and the various nonsurgical and surgical treatment options available. Together, we will make a shared decision to create a path toward improving pain and function.
What are you passionate about and why? My goal as an orthopedic surgeon is to return patients back to their pre-injury levels and doing the things that they enjoy doing most. I take a patient-first approach to understand the problem, patient goals, and use a shared-decision making model to develop an appropriate treatment plan.
Why did you become a provider? When did you know this was the career for you? After seeing a medical responder rush onto the ice during an NHL game in sixth grade, I told my dad that I wanted to be a doctor to help sports teams/athletes. 20 years later my path never changed!
What are you most proud of? I have had more than 20 publications, book chapters and presentations in sports medicine on knee, hip and shoulder pathology.
